Questions

Which invoice template should I use?

If you're registered for GST, use the tax invoice template. If you're not, use the no-GST template, which is titled “Invoice” and doesn't add GST.

Do these templates work in Google Docs or Google Sheets?

Yes. Upload the Word file to Google Drive and open it with Google Docs, or the Excel file with Google Sheets. The Excel formulas keep working.

Are the templates free to use for my business?

Yes, free to download, edit and use for your own invoices.

Is a template enough to meet the ATO's rules?

The template has a place for everything the ATO lists, but what makes an invoice valid is what you fill in: your ABN, a clear description, the GST and, for tax invoices of $1,000 or more, the buyer's name or ABN.
